Career Path
Ms. Fatma Elhbeshi is a researcher assistant in the Department of Environment and Food Science at the Libyan Biotechnology Research Center. She currently serves as Head of the Chemical Analysis Team at the Libyan Laboratory for Olive Oil Quality Assessment and is a member of the sensory panel at the laboratory accredited by the International Olive Council. She obtained her BSc in Chemistry from the University of Tripoli in 2007 and her MSc in Analytical Chemistry from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom, in 2015.
She began her career as a researcher assistant at the Libyan Biotechnology Research Center in 2009, joining the Environmental Protection and Wastewater Treatment Group, which focuses on analyzing water and soil pollutants and developing wastewater treatment solutions.
Ms. Elhbeshi is skilled in advanced analytical techniques such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), and UV–Visible spectrophotometry. Her research interests include drinking water quality assessment, environmental pollutants such as heavy metals, organic compounds, and pesticides, as well as food and olive oil chemistry and medicinal plant chemistry.
