Prof. Saeed Mahmoud Zamit
Academic Biography
Prof. Saeed Mohamoud Zamit is a researcher in the Department of Environment, Food, and Biotechnology, specializing in Bioinformatics Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of Turin, Italy (2008), an M.Sc. in Computerized Data Transmission from the University of Verona, Italy (1996), and a B.Sc. in Computer and Electronics Engineering from the University of Tripoli, Libya (1989).
He has held key leadership roles, including Director of Research Groups in Environment, Food, Biotechnology, Nano, and Bioinformatics at the Biotechnology Research Center (2012–2020), and Director of the Bioinformatics Division for the Libyan DNA Fingerprint Project (2009–2011). He has also served as a Full Professor and faculty member at several Libyan universities (2010–2026).
His innovations include a patent for a Smart Device for Scorpion Venom Extraction (2019) and an AI system for diagnosing COVID-19 from radiology images. He has published research in 3D molecular modelling, cancer microarray data analysis, and AI applications in epidemic diagnosis. His technical expertise spans computerized medical equipment, PCB design, LIMS, and PLC.
