Career Path

Dr. Ezzeddin Al-Hamrouni is a researcher specializing in environmental sciences and bioremediation. He works at the Libyan Biotechnology Research Center. His research interests focus on bioremediation techniques for oil pollution, isolating and characterizing microorganisms capable of degrading petroleum hydrocarbons, and improving the efficiency of biological processes using statistical methods and advanced biotechnological techniques.

He obtained his Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the Libyan Academy in 2009, where his study addressed environmental issues related to soil pollution. In 2023, he earned his PhD in Environmental Sciences from Universiti Putra Malaysia, with his dissertation focusing on developing advanced biological systems for treating hydrocarbon-contaminated soils using locally isolated bacteria.

His research work has included applying Response Surface Methodology to optimize operational conditions, developing immobilized cell techniques using alginate beads, and conducting semi-industrial scale experiments with a bioreactor to evaluate treatment efficiency under enhanced aerobic conditions.
