Career Path

Mr. Tarek Abukreba is a researcher in Environmental Sciences and Biotechnology. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the Faculty of Science at the University of Tripoli and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology Applications of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants from the University of Bari, Italy. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Sciences at the University of Tripoli. He works as a researcher within the Environmental Protection Research Group at the Libyan Biotechnology Research Center (BTRC) in Tripoli, Libya, where he is responsible for chemical and biological water analysis and the preparation of statistical assessments related to water pollution. He previously served as a member of the research team at the Marine Biology Research Center (2009–2010), specializing in the taxonomy of marine organisms. At the beginning of his career, he worked as a laboratory analyst at Pepsi Cola Company (2008) and completed practical training at Al-Jalaa Hospital for Maternity and Children (2008–2009). Mr. Abukreba has advanced expertise in laboratory analytical techniques, including UV-Visible spectrophotometry, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Gas Chromatography (GC), in addition to hydrocarbon analysis in water and soil. He has participated in multidisciplinary research projects and contributed to scientific publications in the fields of environmental pollution, microbiology, and molecular genetics, with particular research interests in the impact of pollutants on ecosystems and public health.
